In his final plea, Khamatshin said that "knowledge from the Bible helped [him] find the meaning of life and gave him hope for the future." "Is giving people hope, cheering people up, comforting people a crime? Is it against the law to help people give up bad habits and become happy?" the believer asked rhetorically.

  • Ill-treatment of Anna Safronova in Penal Colony
April 1, 2025 Astrakhan Region, Stavropol Territory
Anna Safronova, 59, one of Jehovah's Witnesses, convicted for her faith, is subjected to inhuman treatment in penal colony No. 7 in Zelenokumsk (Stavropol Territory), and she also does not receive proper medical care. The reason for this attitude was religious beliefs, for which Anna refused to wear the St. George ribbon (a patriotic symbol).

Safronova has been in the colony for 2 years and 9 months. During 2024, her blood pressure began to rise noticeably, one day she lost consciousness during the formation. She also has pathologically swollen and painful legs.

Particular pressure on the believer began after she refused to wear the St. George ribbon at the request of the colony staff. After that, Safronova was placed in a punishment cell on a fabricated violation - food was planted in her personal belongings.
